Qualified Mental Health Specialist
Will provide professional nursing care to patients who are mentally ill or emotionally disturbed. They work with other staff to assess patients, develop treatment plans, and ensure patients receive the care they need.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications: Ensure medications are administered correctly and note any reactions
- Provide therapy: Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions and lead group counseling sessions
- Maintain records: Prepare and maintain patient records, charts, and reports
- Coordinate care: Work with other staff to ensure patients receive the care they need
- Keep patients safe: Ensure patients are safe from themselves and others
- Provide emotional support: Offer emotional support to patients and their families
- Assess patients: Conduct interviews with patients and their families to gather information about their mental health conditions
- Develop treatment plans: Consult with psychiatrists and other staff to create treatment plans
