About Us
We are a non profit organization whose mission is to put Real Food Within Reach. We operate two markets in downtown Lancaster, Ohio. The Keller Market House is an indoor, year round marketplace for local foods and artisan goods, and the Lancaster Farmers Market is an outdoor, seasonal farmers market.
Overview
This full time Market Coordinator will play a key role in the operations of both the Lancaster Farmers Market and Keller Market House as well as providing a bridge between the two. The successful candidate will be passionate about local food. They will articulate our organizational mission fluently, focus on community building and be proactive to keep everything running smoothly.
The Market Coordinator will be responsible for daily operations and managing relationships across both markets, and will have particular responsibilities coordinating and promoting the Lancaster Farmers Market.
From May through October, approximately 12 hours per week will be spent on farmers market duties, with the remainder on Keller Market House duties. From November through April, the focus will be on Keller Market House operations while also attending to off-season farmers market preparations.
Reports to the Market Manager & Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Provide key coordination to facilitate cohesion between the two markets’ operations
- Serve as on-the-ground coordinator of the farmers market on Saturday mornings, including set up and tear down and staffing the info booth during operating hours
- Assist market management with enforcing market rules, regulations and procedures
- Prioritize consistently friendly and timely service to customers, vendors and guests
- Administer farmers market food access programming
- Operate point of sale, payment processing and inventory software quickly and accurately
- Build strong relationships with vendors, assisting with recruitment, application review, and onboarding for vendors and other market participants
- Perform general storekeeping tasks including cleaning, stocking and merchandising, as well as inventory management
- Work closely with market management to identify and adhere to priorities
- Collaborate on regular communications and marketing activities, including social media
- Other projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service, people skills and relationship building ability
- Experience with point of sale computer software, proficiency with Google Workspace
- Experience with retail, small business or farming preferred, but not required
- Able to walk and stand for several hours at a time and work in outdoor weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs Core Competencies
- Strong communication skills, comfortable working in a team environment and interacting with a wide range of people
- Ability to work independently as the point person for opening and/or closing procedures
- Attention to detail and highly organized • Forward thinking and displays initiative
- Ability to prioritize, delegate and make decisions as appropriate
Schedule
Full Time, Non Exempt Employee: 32 - 36 hours per week
May through October, Saturday mornings required
November through April, some weekends required
Starting Date: April
Compensation
$18 / hour
Potential for increased pay and responsibilities
