Department Summary
Ohio University’s Regional Higher Education invites applicants for the position of Director of Student Services at the Lancaster Campus.

Regional Higher Education (RHE) consists of five regional campuses serving students throughout southeastern and portions of central Ohio with a comprised enrollment of approximately 4,000 students. For more information about Regional Higher Education, please visit www.ohio.edu/regional.

Reporting directly to the Dean of Campus & Community Relations, this position leads and supports the student and academic support services for their campus. The Director of Student Services will have a secondary reporting line to the Associate Vice Provost for Regional Higher Education and Partnerships. The Director of Student Services serves a key leadership role for the campus, in the absence of the campus dean (on-campus leadership) and at the direction of the campus dean (in the community), and is a central member of the campus leadership teams. This position works closely with administration, faculty, and staff to support students throughout the lifecycle of their engagement and enrollment at OHIO.

Student Services Administration

 

  • Directs, manages, and oversees the daily operations and staff of Student Services, including enrollment management, orientation, advising, retention, student engagement, career and experiential learning, tutoring, and testing services.
  • Manages the College Credit Plus program for the campus, serving as the lead contact for students, parents, school districts, and university colleagues. Serves as the primary academic advisor for CC+ students. Maintains working knowledge of associated Ohio Revised Code, Ohio Administrative Code, Ohio Department of Higher Education policies and practices, and university policies, practices, and expectations. Works with campus and high school administration to identify and support instructional needs and opportunities for CC+ students.
  • Serves as chair of the campus scholarship committee.

Student Programming
  • Works closely with campus administration and regional campus colleagues to develop student programming and services that align with strategic enrollment goals for Regional Higher Education.
  • Develop, oversee, and monitor campus-wide efforts to achieve campus and university commitment to diversity as a core value.
  • Oversees the campus OHIO Honors Program and serves as a liaison with faculty and the Honors Tutorial College.

Collaboration and Partnership
  • Collaborates with directors of student services at other regional campuses to develop, implement, and maintain policies and practices that support student enrollment, engagement, and retention.
  • Supports the coordination of campus recruitment needs and activities with the Division of Enrollment Management.
  • Collaborates with the Division of Enrollment Management and RHE Communications & External Relations to develop and implement a recruitment communication strategy that supports strategic enrollment goals for the campus, regional system, and university.
  • Serves as the campus liaison with university offices, including Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Academic Achievement Center, Diversity & Inclusion, college student services offices, and the academic advising, career, and experiential learning staff associated with the Guarantee+ Graduation Plans.
Position Profile
Assists and empowers students to achieve academic success and social adjustment through a variety of student support activities. Coordinates services including academic tutoring, student learning centers, life skills support and coaching, etc. Shares resources with students through engagement and outreach opportunities.
Level Summary
Responsible for the management of a unit that performs diverse but related tasks. Handles work and budget planning, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to achieve team objectives. Contributes to divisional or departmental operational plans by aligning unit goals with broader institutional strategies. Accountable for meeting short-term objectives and driving continuous improvement.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages a large team or multiple teams. Directly oversees at least 2.0 FTE employees or one or more supervisors. Has authority to hire, transfer, suspend, promote, manage performance, discharge, assign duties, reward, and discipline employees.
Fiscal Responsibilities
Oversees large budgets, including departmental and program-level budgets.

Solves strategic, organizational problems and ensures continuous improvement.
Independence of Action
High degree of autonomy in decision-making, accountable for large areas.
Communication and Collaboration
Collaborates with executive leadership and external partners to drive organizational goals.
Physical Requirements
This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Master’s degree in a related field, 8 or more years of related professional experience, and 5 or more years of supervisory experience, or equivalent education and experience.
