Job Title: Community Engagement Manager
Job Level/Status: Full-Time, Exempt
RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENT
Will attend coalition meetings, committee meetings, collaboration meetings, community events. Seek opportunities to partner with community organizations and businesses.
VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
Obtain new volunteers and maintain current roster of volunteers. Provide routine communication with volunteers and assign volunteers to specific projects/needs.
MARKETING
Responsible for all social media, monthly newsletter, flyers, press releases, all collateral material and monitor website/submit updates when needed. Will speak at public events/meetings when needed to promote United Way. Will be responsible for the overall promotion of United Way.
EVENT PLANNING OVERVIEW:
Responsible for planning, development, management and implementation of United Way programs and special events. Special events include but are not limited to the following: Pillar Event, Appreciation/Campaign Banquet, Community Care Day, Day of Action, 5K Run/2 Mile Walk, Tour de United Way bus tour.
CAMPAIGN DEVELOPMENT OVERVIEW:
To provide support to the CEO in structuring and planning for the campaign. Cultivate relationships with all corporate campaign coordinators to encourage increased participation and giving within all accounts. Ability to establish donor relationships with individuals and organizations. Communicates, interacts, and supports all departments within the United Way to enhance fundraising opportunities. Contribute to and demonstrate ownership of organization mission goals.
This position reports to the CEO/Executive Director.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work with the CEO to develop, implement, and evaluate events.
- Plan, facilitate, and execute fundraising special events in accordance with the organization's goals and priorities.
- Manage and implement events as they relate to meeting the goals of the organization.
- Manage and implement all social media, electronic marketing (emails, chamber communications, monthly newsletter etc.) to increase community awareness of United Way. Designs flyers and other marketing collateral as needed.
- Assist the CEO with identifying grant opportunities.
- Solicit sponsors to support programs and events.
- Provide staff support for United Way volunteers, including members of the Board of Directors.
- Manage and supervise all planning activities and volunteer training for programs and events.
- Works as part of the United Way team by participating in and supporting campaign, marketing, technology, and administrative functions, as necessary. Performs other duties and responsibilities, as required.
- Represent United Way of Fairfield County in collaborative efforts with government, other non-profits and business as assigned.
- Coordinate with and support communications, marketing, and campaign efforts of the United Way of Fairfield County in meeting organizational objectives.
- Identifies opportunities for new United Way workplace campaigns and corporate gifts.
- Provides and implements training for company campaign volunteers within assigned accounts; assists CEO in preparing and conducting public presentations to employee groups within assigned accounts as needed; ensures that donors within assigned accounts are appropriately acknowledged for their gifts.
- Develops/maintains relationships with key stakeholders and funders, including developing accurate profiles and account plans for all prospective accounts. Incorporates and documents all activities into United Way’s database.
- Maintains comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date accounts files; prepares regular and accurate reports on account status to United Way staff and volunteers as requested.
- Assists the CEO in the planning for all campaign functions, including regular campaign meetings and special events.
- Utilizes technology to increase resources more efficiently and effectively. Stays current with social, political, business, and economic factors in the community that may affect the United Way and adjusts plans accordingly.
- Completes special assignments and projects as needed.
- Flexible schedule. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed to attend events etc.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in marketing, communications, nonprofit management, business or other degree with marketing/community engagement experience.
- Self-starter adept at multi-tasking.
- Nonprofit experience a plus
- Past fundraising experience preferred.
- Outgoing, high energy and able to energize others.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate diverse volunteer groups, work independently, develop and present innovative ideas. Proven organizational, written, verbal and creative skills.
- Demonstrated personal computer skills with MS Office applications, Adobe, Canva and other common software applications.
- High level of social media skills
- Acceptable work ethics, professional conduct, and appearance, reflecting United Way’s image and values.
- Must be able to work collaboratively throughout the organization to successfully bring opportunities to fruition.
- Physical requirement: Capable of lifting weights ranging from 20 to 30 pounds.
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends on occasion as needed.
