Vinton County National Bank and Fairfield Federal to Host Community Fraud Prevention Workshop

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Vinton County National Bank and Fairfield Federal to Host Community Fraud Prevention Workshop

LANCASTER, Ohio, October 13, 2026 — Vinton County National Bank and Fairfield Federal Savings and Loan Association of Lancaster are partnering to host a community fraud prevention workshop on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Levacy Center, 1550 Sheridan Drive, Suite 200, Lancaster, Ohio.
The free event is open to everyone in the community and will provide attendees with practical information to help recognize, prevent and respond to fraud and scams. Lunch will be provided.

The workshop will feature speakers from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and Fairfield County Job and Family Services, who will share information and insight on fraud prevention, common scams, investigations and resources available to individuals who may be targeted by fraud.

“Fraud continues to evolve, and one of the best ways we can protect our customers and our communities is by making sure people have the knowledge to recognize a scam before it happens,” said Jodi Motta, EVP and Head of Retail for Vinton County National Bank. “We are pleased to partner with Fairfield Federal on this event and bring experts from across the state and county together to provide our community with information they can use to protect themselves, their families and their finances.”

“Banks have a responsibility that goes beyond providing financial services. We are part of the communities we serve, and helping our neighbors recognize and avoid fraud is an important part of that responsibility,” said Mary K. Snider, President of Fairfield Federal Savings and Loan Association. “This workshop is a great example of what can happen when local organizations work together. We encourage anyone who wants to learn more about protecting themselves from fraud to join us.”

Fraud can take many forms, including identity theft, financial scams, fraudulent transactions and scams targeting older adults, business owners and even very savvy individuals. Bringing together financial institutions, law enforcement and county resources gives community members an opportunity to hear directly from professionals who work to prevent and investigate fraud.

Fairfield County Job and Family Services plays an important role in protecting older adults through its Adult Protective Services program, which investigates allegations of exploitation and abuse, provides support services and works with community partners to help safeguard vulnerable seniors. The Ohio Attorney General’s Office also provides consumer education and resources designed to help Ohioans recognize scams and protect themselves from fraud.

“We want this to be a practical, informative conversation that gives people tools they can take home and use,” said Motta. “You do not have to be a bank customer to benefit from this information. This event is for anyone in our community who wants to be better prepared.”

The event will be held at The Levacy Center, 1550 Sheridan Drive, Lancaster, Ohio, a community and conference facility used for workshops, trainings and community events.
