Ohio Glass Museum Celebrates 20th Anniversary
with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

LANCASTER, Ohio — The Ohio Glass Museum recently commemorated its 20th anniversary with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside its historic downtown Lancaster location on Tuesday.

Ohio Glass Museum board members and staff were joined by State Sen. Tim Schaffer, R-Lancaster, and Lancaster Mayor Don McDaniel as community leaders gathered for the ceremony, organized by the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce.

“Cheers to 20 years of glass history,” said Jonette Haberfield, director of Visit Fairfield County. “People come here for heritage tourism, art and culture. You’ve got it all right here in one place.”

Schaffer presented museum stakeholders with a resolution from the Ohio Senate and recalled when the museum was only an idea.

“Congratulations, and keep up the great work,” Schaffer said. “I hope we will be back in another 20 years.”

The Ohio Glass Museum opened its doors with a mission to preserve the region’s glassmaking heritage. Today, it stands as a testament to the artistry, industry and community spirit that define Fairfield County.

The ceremony also served as a dedication to the museum’s future. Over the past 20 years, the Ohio Glass Museum has expanded its collections, hosted world-class exhibits, and shared the art of glassblowing with thousands of visitors. Museum staff also take pride in the classes offered throughout the year and the museum’s unique gift shop.
