Lancaster City Schools Receives Generous Donation
for Driver’s Education Program

March 11, 2026 [Lancaster, OH]  Lancaster City Schools received a generous donation from Brad Hutchinson, owner of Company Wrench, and Buckeye Toyota last week in the form of a new 2026 Toyota Corolla to be utilized in the district’s driver’s education program.

In addition, $5,000 in scholarship funds was also donated to help cover the cost of the training program for eligible students through the Fairfield County Foundation.

“The car donation was Brad’s idea to help increase the number of students who could participate in our driver's education program,” said Superintendent Nathan Hale. “He worked closely with Brett Conrad at Buckeye Toyota to coordinate the purchase and donation of  the vehicle. Each party donated $15,000 to make this project come to fruition.”

The Fairfield County Educational Service Center (ESC) at Lancaster High School offers a comprehensive driver's education program for students aged 15.5–17, featuring both 24-hour online or in-person classroom instruction and eight hours of behind-the-wheel training. The program costs $350, with scholarship opportunities available, and includes flexible scheduling for drives during evenings, weekends and summer. The curriculum was approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety in 2022.

“In Ohio, only 75 of the state’s 823 public high schools offer driver training courses in some form and Lancaster High School is one of them,” said Hale. “We are extremely grateful to Mr. Hutchinson and Buckeye Toyota for making the program even more accessible for our students.”
