Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on July 12
LANCASTER, OH – The Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency (LFCAA) Recycling Center is proud to announce its upcoming Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day, taking place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Fairfield County Workforce Center, located at 4465 Coonpath Road NW, Carroll, OH.
This free event is open to Fairfield County residents only, and attendees must bring proof of residency, such as a driver’s license or utility bill. The collection event provides an opportunity to properly dispose of a wide range of hazardous household materials, including batteries, oil-based paints, old gasoline, fertilizers, household cleaners, insecticides, and more.
This event is made possible through generous funding from the Ohio EPA’s Community Grant and support from Cirba Solutions.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Ohio EPA’s continued support through their Community Grant Program, Fairfield County Workforce Center for providing the space for the event, and to Cirba Solutions for sponsoring this essential event,” said Jennifer Kolometz, LFCAA Recycling Director. “Without their partnership, offering responsible, local disposal options like this would not be possible.”
Cirba Solutions, a leader in battery recycling and sustainability, emphasized the importance of events like this to the environment, the region’s recycling infrastructure, and ensuring residents have access to dispose of these materials safely and properly.
“Batteries are part of our everyday lives, and with the increase in devices powered by batteries, it’s crucial to the region’s sustainability initiatives and recycling streams that we safely handle and recycle end-of-life batteries to keep them out of landfills and positively impact the environment,” said Karen Gay, Cirba Solutions’ Community Engagements Manager. “Part of making that a reality is ensuring that consumers are educated, and have access to proper disposal, and we could not do that without partners like the Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency hosting events like the household hazardous waste day.”
To ensure safety and proper handling, all materials must be brought in their original consumer packaging. Mixed or unidentified items will not be accepted. No materials from businesses, churches, or schools will be allowed, and certain items such as latex paint, fluorescent light bulbs, pharmaceuticals, and radioactive waste will not be accepted.
