Harcum House Launches Capital Campaign to Secure Permanent Location

LANCASTER, Ohio – Harcum House, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential services to children and families affected by abuse and trauma, has announced the official launch of a capital campaign which will support its efforts to secure a permanent office location. The campaign seeks to raise one-million dollars, which will support the purchase and renovation of the building to serve as a long-term home in the Fairfield County community where it serves.

Kate Smiley, campaign chair, emphasized the importance of community involvement: “The success of this campaign relies on the generosity and support of our community,” said Smiley. “Securing a permanent home will allow Harcum House to provide a calm, private atmosphere, which is not possible in our current temporary facility. A new facility will provide a more dignified experience for victims as they bravely speak up. This is a lasting investment in the future of our community and surrounding communities.”

Operating based on the Children’s Advocacy Center model, Harcum House plays a critical role in coordinating investigations, providing advocacy and offering therapeutic support to survivors of child abuse and neglect. A permanent facility will enable Harcum House to expand its reach, improve its services, and create a more stable, welcoming environment for the children and families they serve.

“We believe that a permanent home will allow us to foster healing in an even more meaningful way,” added Ricki Chenault, board president. “Every contribution brings us closer to achieving that goal, and we are deeply grateful for the community’s support. Today matters for our kids.”

The capital campaign invites community members, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic organizations to join in supporting the mission of Harcum House. For more information about the campaign and ways to contribute, visit www.harcumhouse.org/s-projects-basic.
