FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care Remodel Butterfly Garden

LANCASTER, Ohio (October 26, 2026) - FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care has completed a remodel of the Butterfly Garden at The Pickering House, creating a peaceful space where patients and their families can relax, reflect, and spend meaningful time together.

The original butterfly garden was established with funds lovingly donated by the family in memoriam of Wilford and Thelma Greathouse, who both passed away in 2010.

This project was made possible through the generosity of the community and the incredible efforts of FAIRHOPE volunteers. Funds raised during this year's Trash to Treasure event—a volunteer-led fundraiser where items are collected, organized, and sold to support FAIRHOPE's mission—helped bring this vision to life. A plaque installed in the garden acknowledges the work and dedication of FAIRHOPE’s volunteers.

Natural Creations, a design-build landscaping, hardscaping, and retail greenhouse in Lancaster, was instrumental in designing the remodeled garden and installed many deer resistant perennials.

“We are so grateful to our community and especially our volunteers who worked to make this beautiful space possible,” said Kristin Glasure, President and CEO of FAIRHOPE. “The original garden was a wonderful gift from the Greathouse family and will continue to be a gift to our patients and their families for years to come.”
