LANCASTER, Ohio (July 28, 2026) — FAIRHOPE Hospice & Palliative Care will host its 18th Annual Virginia L. Pickering Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, August 4. For nearly two decades, FAIRHOPE staff and community members convene in remembrance of benefactor Virginia Leigh Pickering.
A pioneer in FAIRHOPE’s inception, Pickering was actively involved in the vision and construction behind The Pickering House, named after her parents, Dan and Grace. She dedicated much of her life to philanthropy, serving many charities and advancing the mission of local nonprofits.
The ice cream social will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Pickering House, 282 Sells Road in Lancaster. This event is open to anyone who wishes to attend.
“Virginia was an extraordinary person and instrumental to the FAIRHOPE legacy,” said Kristin Glasure, President and CEO of FAIRHOPE. “It’s an honor to continue this beloved tradition and pay tribute in her memory.”
