Fairfield Federal Partners With Local School Districts, Volunteering to Encourage Financial Literacy Skills
LANCASTER, Ohio (May 18, 2026) – Fairfield Federal employees leveraged their financial expertise through their involvement with The Ohio State University Extension’s Real Money. Real World. (RMRW) program at participating Fairfield County school districts. The youth-focused financial literacy simulation offers hands-on financial lessons related to cost-of-living and budgeting.
Fairfield Federal employees volunteer annually in the program at Amanda-Clearcreek Local School District, St. Mary’s, Fairfield Union, Lancaster High School, and others. Employees man stations during the simulation along with other financial and community volunteers, interacting with students and guiding them toward sound financial decisions based on their assigned profession and lifestyle.
The various money management scenarios offer students a realistic glimpse into daily budgeting, balancing expenses to determine needs versus wants, and connecting financial literacy skills to recent classroom curriculum. Fairfield Federal’s commitment to community banking partnerships comes full circle by supporting the program’s performance outcomes for youth lessons on financial management.
“Fairfield Federal sees immense value in this program, and it’s been an initiative we’re proud to support and volunteer for each year,” said Mary Snider, Fairfield Federal President. “Financial literacy begins at a young age and we see these lessons evolve into tangible skills as students grow into adulthood. This program allows us to support skill development through meaningful conversations with students across the county.”
For 130 years, Fairfield Federal has supported generations of families, which begins with a foundation of financial literacy. By volunteering for RMRW, Fairfield Federal continues to reinforce the importance of financial education and preparation for young learners. Employees have participated in stations related to the following cost-of-living choices: student loans, housing, financial advice, health and auto insurance, entertainment, donations, transportation, childcare, clothing, food, credit, and communications.
