Fairfield County Workforce Center to Host Parents' Information Night 2026

CARROLL, OH - Families of Fairfield County high school seniors are invited to explore exciting career pathways at the Fairfield County Workforce Center's Fall Parents' Information Night on Wednesday, August 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Workforce Center, 4465 Coonpath Road NW, Carroll, Ohio.
The event gives students and their families an opportunity to learn about the Workforce Center's no-cost pre-apprenticeship programs available to high school seniors. Designed to prepare students for in-demand careers, the programs combine hands-on training with industry-recognized credentials while students remain enrolled at and graduate from their home high school.
"This event gives families a firsthand look at the opportunities available through the Workforce Center," said Rick Szabrak, Director of Economic and Workforce Development for Fairfield County. "Students can graduate from high school with valuable skills, industry credentials, and a clear pathway to higher education or a rewarding career. And most of them graduate having already started a job in their chosen field as we work with our dozens of employer partners to help place the students into employment."
Established in 2020 through a collaborative partnership between the Fairfield County Commissioners, Ohio University Lancaster, the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, and Hocking College, the Fairfield County Workforce Center prepares students for in-demand careers while helping meet the workforce needs of local employers. Students receive hands-on instruction in phlebotomy, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, industrial technology, and wastewater management, with opportunities to earn industry-recognized certifications through the Workforce Center's partnerships with Ohio University and Hocking College, all while remaining enrolled at and graduating from their home high school.
Throughout the evening, families will have the opportunity to meet Workforce Center instructors, tour the training facilities, and learn about each of the available programs. Representatives from Ohio University and Hocking College will be available to discuss college and credential opportunities.
