FAIRFIELD COUNTY WORKFORCE CENTER TO HOST
PARENTS’ INFORMATION NIGHT
[CARROLL, OH] - The Fairfield County Workforce Center will host the annual Parents’ Information Night for Fairfield County high school seniors and their families to learn about the pre-apprenticeship programs offered at no cost to seniors that attend a high school in Fairfield County or are home schooled. The event will take place on August 21, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Workforce center, 4465 Coonpath Road NW in Carroll, Ohio.
Families and students attending will have the opportunity to hear from program instructors, connect with college administrators to explore degree opportunities and talk with industry leaders about career opportunities. At the event, students can sign up for Discovery Days in the fall which will give them a chance to receive hands-on learning to help them choose a program that best interests them. If a student finds a program they are interested in, they can complete that program at the Workforce Center while still completing their core high school classes their senior year. Staff at their high school and at the Workforce Center help them with completing requisites to graduate. Programs are in manufacturing, construction trades, and healthcare and thanks to the generosity of the State of Ohio and the Fairfield County
“Many students head into their senior year unsure of what path they want to follow after high school,” said Rick Szabrak, Fairfield County Economic and Workforce Development Director. “The Workforce Center programs for high school seniors give students one more chance to gain an industry skill before they graduate. Last year’s graduating class included students from all eight of the Fairfield County School districts and we helped every student who was interested in working in their desired field find a job. We want to expand that this year so we can help more high school seniors find that path – whether its continuing education after high school or joining the workforce.
Students at the Workforce Center receive instruction in the areas of electrical, HVAC, carpentry, industrial technology and wastewater management. In addition, an Industry Recognized Credential can be gained through a phlebotomy course.
Established in 2020, the Workforce Center is operated by the Fairfield County Commissioners and programs are taught by Ohio University Lancaster, Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering, and Hocking College. The partnership focuses on economic development through training and workforce development.
Reservations are not required to attend, and additional information may be obtained by emailing deshawn.toney@fairfieldcountyohio.gov.
