Fairfield County Workforce Center to Host Free Summer Day Camps Surrounding Robotics, Healthcare and Trades

[CARROLL, OH] - The Fairfield 33 Development Alliance and the Fairfield County Workforce Center are hosting Explore Career Camps this summer for students who will be in grades 6, 7 and 8 during the 2026-2027 school year. Camps are offered at no cost to students or their families, and priority will be given to students in Fairfield County.

The opportunity includes three unique camps: The Team STEAM Camp will teach robotics, sustainability, and coding. The Healthcare Heroes Camp will introduce students to careers in healthcare in a fun setting. The Builders Camp offers hands-on learning in basic carpentry and other skilled trades.

Students will learn from experts in the field, including professors from Hocking College and Ohio University-Lancaster, as well as from teachers from Lancaster City Schools, Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency and Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools.

“Summer camps can be expensive, so I’m thankful for the Fairfield 33 Development Alliance, the Fairfield County Commissioners, and our education partners for their continued support to make this a free experience for local students, said Rick Szabrak, Fairfield County Economic and Workforce Development Director. “The camps provide a fun, educational student experience where they can make friends and enjoy hands-on exposure related to various professions. The highlight is the final day of camp when students get to show their family members everything they’ve learned. The students are so excited and the feedback we get from parents is always so positive.”

Camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The final day will provide an opportunity for family members to visit the camp to see what students have learned.
Space is limited and registration is required. For additional information, visit www.fairfieldcountyohioworkforcecenter.gov/career-camps.html.
