FAIRFIELD COUNTY WORKFORCE CENTER TO HOST
FREE EXPLORE CAREER CAMPS
FREE EXPLORE CAREER CAMPS
[CARROLL, OH] - The Fairfield 33 Development Alliance and the Fairfield County Workforce Center are excited to announce the return of Explore Career Camps this summer, free of charge for students who will be in grades 6, 7, and 8 during the 2026-2027 academic year. Priority will be given to students in Fairfield County. These unique camps will introduce youth to one-week sessions designed to build interest in careers in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, and construction.
In its fifth year, the Workforce Center Career Camps will be led by instructors from Hocking College, Ohio University-Lancaster, Lancaster City Schools, Lancaster-Fairfield Community Action Agency and Eastland-Fairfield Career & Technical Schools. There will be no fees or cost to the students participating in the camps – all are funded by the Fairfield 33 Development Alliance, the Fairfield County Commissioners.
“Offering these camps at no cost makes them accessible to any student, “said Rick Szabrak, Fairfield County Economic and Workforce Development Director. “Kids have a blast learning alongside their friends the things that already interest them. At the same time, we are introducing them to fundamentals in technology, healthcare and construction that might just turn into a path for their futures.”
Camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The final day will provide an opportunity for family members to visit the camp to see what their students have learned from their involvement. The Team Steam camp will teach robotics, sustainability, and coding to students. The Healthcare Heroes Camp will introduce students to careers in healthcare in a fun setting. The Builders Camp gives students an opportunity for hands-on learning in basic carpentry and other skilled trades.
Space for students in all the camps is limited, and registration is required. For additional information, visit www.fairfieldcountyohioworkforcecenter.gov/career-camps.html.
