Fairfield County Launches Public Contest To Rename Public Transit Service

LANCASTER, OH — The Fairfield County Commissioners recently announced that Lancaster-Fairfield Public Transit (LFPT) has transitioned to an official county department. To engage the community in this new chapter, the Commissioners are inviting residents to participate in the “Brand the Bus” initiative, seeking new name suggestions for the transit system.

"As a newly established county department, we're excited to continue serving the transportation needs of Fairfield County's residents, employers, and visitors,” said Transit Director Aaron Kennedy. “The ‘Brand the Bus’ contest is an exciting way for residents to leave their mark on our transit system, helping us create a name that truly represents the needs of Fairfield County."

The transition to a county department marks a significant step in meeting the community’s and local employer’s evolving transportation needs. Commissioners encourage residents to suggest names that reflect the efficient, accessible, and reliable transit services available to residents, visitors, and workforce of Fairfield County.

“We are excited to launch this contest and see the creativity of our community in action,” said Steve Davis, Fairfield County Commissioner. “This is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to contribute to the identity of our public transit system. I look forward to seeing how the names reflect the spirit and purpose of our services, highlighting the vital role public transit plays in connecting and supporting our community."

Residents can use the link below to submit name ideas. Valid entries will be collected through September 27 and will be narrowed down to the top names. Once top names are determined, the community will have the opportunity to vote on the final options. Finalists will be entered into a drawing to receive a complimentary ad (birthday, graduation, etc.) on one bus for one month.
