Fairfield County Earns 2026 USA TODAY Top Workplaces Award for Fifth Consecutive Year
LANCASTER, Ohio – Fairfield County is proud to announce that it has earned the prestigious
2026 USA TODAY Top Workplaces award, marking the fifth consecutive year the county has been recognized among top employers both nationally and within Central Ohio.
The award honors organizations with 150 or more employees that have built exceptional, people-first workplace cultures. This year, more than 42,000 organizations were invited to participate. Winners are recognized for their commitment to fostering workplace environments that prioritize employee listening, engagement, and overall experience.
In addition to national recognition, Fairfield County ranked highly across multiple workplace culture categories, including Cross Team Cooperation, Company Direction, Employee Appreciation, and Strong Values, among others. These honors, reflected in the organization’s Culture Badges, highlight the County’s continued commitment to cultivating a positive and collaborative work environment.
The Top Workplaces designation is based entirely on authentic employee feedback collected through a confidential survey administered by Energage, the HR research and technology company behind the program since 2006. Results are calculated from employee responses to key Workplace Experience Themes, proven indicators of organizational health and high performance.
“This recognition speaks directly to the intentional culture that we have created in our county offices, which is supported and championed by our employees” said Fairfield County Commissioner Steve Davis. “When our team feels supported, valued, and connected to our mission, it strengthens the services we provide to our county every day. We are proud to foster an environment where people can thrive while serving our community.”
This employee-driven recognition underscores Fairfield County’s ongoing dedication to building a workplace where team members feel valued, heard, and empowered. By cultivating a culture centered on engagement and service, Fairfield County continues to strengthen its mission to serve, connect, and protect the community.
Fairfield County’s sustained recognition as a Top Workplace reflects its commitment to excellence, not only as an employer, but as a public service organization dedicated to benefiting all residents through an engaged and customer-focused workforce.
Founded in 1800 (three years before Ohio became a State), Fairfield County was the 8th county formed in the Northwest Territory. Today, more than 900 employees serve, connect, and protect the more than 158,000 citizens of Fairfield County, providing high-quality services and outstanding customer service at exceptional value to taxpayers. Fairfield County fosters economic and fiscal sustainability and works to enhance the County's reputation as a high performing, learning, and caring organization.
