Fairfield County Auditor, Dr. Carri L Brown, Announces Receipt of Auditor of State Award with Distinction for 2025

Clean audit results reflect the County’s commitment to accountability, transparency, and sound financial management.

Lancaster, Ohio – Fairfield County Auditor, Dr. Carri L. Brown, is pleased to announce that Fairfield County has received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for 2025. The award will be presented to Auditor Brown and her office by the Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber on December 1st. This recognition honors the County’s commitment to sound financial management, accurate financial reporting, and responsible stewardship of public resources.

The Auditor of State Award with Distinction recognizes local governments and school districts whose financial audits meet the State Auditor’s criteria for a clean audit report. These criteria include timely financial reporting, the absence of specified audit findings and material weaknesses, and the absence of certain management letter comments and other financial concerns.

The award reflects the collective work and cooperation required to maintain strong financial practices, uphold public accountability, and provide residents with confidence in the management of public funds.
Dr. Brown expressed her appreciation to the many individuals and organizations whose partnership contributes to the County’s financial stewardship.

The Auditor of State Award with Distinction serves as recognition of the financial reporting and recordkeeping practices demonstrated through the audit process. The Ohio Auditor of State’s Office conducts financial audits of state and local government entities and works to promote accountability, transparency, and integrity in public service.
