Commissioner Dave Levacy Inducted Into Ohio Veterans Hall of FAme
LANCASTER, OH — Fairfield County Commissioner Dave Levacy was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame earlier this month at The Ohio State University's Fawcett Center in recognition of his outstanding post-military accomplishments.
The U.S. Army veteran is one of 20 inductees this year, including Fairfield County Air Force veteran Michael W. Carrell.
“As Governor, I am proud to welcome the Class of 2024 to the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame,” said Governor DeWine. “The 20 exceptional Ohio veterans we are celebrating deserve our gratitude, not only for their service to our country in the Armed Forces but for their enduring service to our communities and our state in their post-military lives. These individuals have dedicated their lives to helping others and are an inspiration to all of us every day.”
Hosted by the Ohio Department of Veterans Services (ODVS), this year’s event marked the 33rd annual Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and brought the total number of inductees to 994.
Levacy, 79, was drafted into the Army in 1965 while a student at Ohio University and served until November 1967. College students were exempt from the draft, but he was drafted between exemptions. For much of his service, Levacy oversaw the personnel department at Fort Story in Virginia. After his military service, Levacy was the Millersport/Walnut Township Fire Department chief and also worked as a paramedic. He is a former Millersport Village Council president who was elected to Fairfield County Commissioner in 2012. His dedication to serving others has earned him significant recognitions, including the 2020 Floyd Wolfe Award for community service and the 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fairfield County Lincoln Republican Club. Levacy resides in Millersport with Ann, his wife of 57 years.
