City of Lancaster Announces New Brand Identity, Tagline
New logo includes unique icons representing city landmarks
with call to action for citizens
“This new brand is uniquely Lancaster, using landmarks that are recognizable. It is distinctive but aligned with other brands that call Lancaster home,” said Mayor McDaniel. “We wanted to create something that underscores how proud we are of this city and that calls the people who live, work and visit here to be proud to be part of it. We love our Lancaster!”
The new brand incorporates a stylized, fused image of the Lancaster City Hall clock tower and the Lancaster Fountain in Zane Square. The clock tower, built in 1898, is currently undergoing restoration, while the fountain has called Downtown Lancaster its home since 1890. The color palette includes a combination of blues, greens and cream.
“Importantly, we aren’t going to rush out and change everything all at once,” said Director Carrie Woody. “We want to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, so we will be gradually replacing signage, vehicle decals, documents, etc. as we need more or as things need to be replaced.”
The rebranding process was led by Lancaster-based Krile Communications, with design partner Kylie Lovsey Design, also based in Lancaster. The rebranding initiative built on an internal strategic planning process the City undertook in 2024 and included multiple input sessions with former and current City leaders and a community survey through the Lancaster-Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce.
