Chamber of Commerce Endorses Fairfield DD Levy Renewal

Upon recommendation from the Legislative Action Committee, the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has unanimously voted to endorse Fairfield DD’s upcoming levy renewal. The Chamber has become aware of the need that our county is experiencing in terms of accessibility and improvements that serve our residents. With Fairfield County experiencing significant growth, it’s clear that we’ll keep observing these changes and witnessing the call to action to support people with developmental disabilities.

It’s our obligation as the Chamber to provide opportunities for businesses, owners and their employees to increase opportunities and resources to serve customers and clientele. Fairfield DD is a great example of how an organization connects with their community to develop an effective model for our community.

The Chamber supports this levy because of our understanding that these funds are essential to maintain their services and exceed expectations for this population. If Fairfield DD is to stay true to their waitlist of zero, this levy must pass to continue seeing growth and progress for those with developmental disabilities. This includes the availability of assistive technology and remote supports, reliability of public transportation and housing options, and educational materials that support the transition to greater independence.

It’s critical that voters understand that they will continue to pay the same dollar amount as when the levy passed in 2015. I hope others join me to vote ‘yes’ on May 6 to renew Fairfield DD.
