Berne Union Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir Sweep Superior Ratings at OMEA Event
LOGAN and UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio – The Berne Union Wind Ensemble and Concert Choir both earned Superior ratings at the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 15 Large Group Adjudicated Events, held March 13-14.
The Wind Ensemble performed March 13 at Logan High School, while the Concert Choir performed on March 14 at Upper Arlington High School.
As part of the adjudicated event, each group performed one required piece, two selected pieces, and one sight-reading selection. Both ensembles received a rating of one, the highest possible score on OMEA’s five-point scale. The Wind Ensemble competed in Class A, while the Concert Choir made their first-ever appearance in a Class B performance.
“We could not be more proud of our music department’s accomplishments,” said Craig Heath, principal. “Our students continue to demonstrate excellence by performing at a high level, even with the challenges of snow days leading up to the competition.”
OMEA supports student access to comprehensive and high-quality music education. The organization provides educators with proper resources and uses national standards to promote academic achievement in music.
Berne Union Local Schools is located in Sugar Grove, Ohio. The mission of the district is to develop students of character, resilience, and adaptability who will become productive citizens in our changing world. More information is available at buschools.com.
