We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Safety Support Specialist to play a key role in fostering a safe and healthy work environment. Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate and coordinate safety training programs, including emergency response procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work practices; track attendance and maintain training certifications.
- Maintain and update accurate safety records, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety data sheets (SDS), ensuring accessibility during inspections or audits.
- Provide administrative support to the Safety Manager by preparing reports, managing correspondence with regulatory agencies, and organizing safety-related documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, BWC, and applicable federal and state safety regulations by tracking deadlines for required inspections, audits, and reporting.
- Monitor updates to OSHA standards or state-specific safety laws and assist the Safety Manager in implementing necessary changes to company policies or procedures.
- Support incident reporting processes by entering data into tracking systems, validating information for accuracy, and preparing summaries for management review.
- Identify workplace hazards and risks and collaborate with management to communicate and update safety policies and procedures to mitigate risks.
- Document and track safety audits, inspections, and investigations of accidents or near-miss incidents, prepare detailed reports with summaries of corrective actions.
- Assist in the preparation and communication of safety related information to employees.
- Serve as a resource for employees by addressing safety-related inquiries, fostering open communication between employees and management regarding safety concerns, and promoting a culture of safety awareness across the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Background in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in safety coordination or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards
- Ability to conduct safety training and presentations effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
- Proficiency in risk assessment and management techniques
