Maintenance Supervisor
JOB FUNCTION:
Oversees daily shop operations, ensuring efficient workflow, quality repairs, and compliance with safety standards. This role combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including training mechanics, troubleshooting complex issues, and coordinating maintenance schedules.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervises and assigns tasks to mechanics, ensuring proper workflow and efficient use of resources.
- Conducts PM (Preventative Maintenance) Inspections and Post-Trip Inspections.
- Diagnoses and oversees repairs of engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes, and other major components.
- Ensures timely and high-quality repairs and maintenance of all company vehicles and equipment.
- Performs complex troubleshooting and assists mechanics with technical challenges.
- Oversees and ensures compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Maintains inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, coordinating procurement as needed.
- Serves as a liaison between mechanics, drivers, and management to resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Conducts performance evaluations and provides feedback to improve team efficiency.
- Ensures documentation and repair records are accurate and up to date.
- Experience: 5+ years of diesel shop experience, including supervisory or leadership experience.
- Education: High school diploma required; technical school training in diesel mechanics or related field preferred.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- In-depth understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and heavy equipment repairs.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical issues efficiently.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and software.
- Knowledge of DOT and OSHA safety regulations.
- Ability to train, mentor, and develop mechanics.
- Certifications: ASE or other relevant certifications are a plus.
