Position Summary

The Match Support Specialist plays a vital role in creating successful mentoring relationships by guiding volunteers, youth, and families through the enrollment, assessment, matching, and support process.

This position requires excellent customer service, strong interviewing and assessment skills, sound independent judgment, and a commitment to child safety. The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with volunteers and families while ensuring all Big Brothers Big Sisters standards and practices are followed.

Essential Responsibilities: Enrollment & Assessment

• Conduct volunteer orientations, interviews, home visits, and enrollment assessments.
• Conduct parent and youth interviews, child safety education, home visits, and enrollment assessments.
• Review references, background information, and other enrollment materials.
• Identify barriers to enrollment and assist participants through the process.
• Conduct reassessments and updates as needed.

Matching & Support

• Assess volunteer strengths, interests, and qualifications to create successful mentoring matches.
• Facilitate match introductions and coordinate match meetings.
• Provide ongoing recommendations for match success.
• Collaborate with program staff to ensure smooth participant transitions.

Child Safety

• Apply Big Brothers Big Sisters child safety and risk management policies throughout all aspects of service delivery.
• Identify child safety concerns and respond appropriately.
• Assess and refer families to additional community resources when appropriate.

Documentation & Administration

• Maintain timely, accurate, and thorough documentation in the BBBS database.
• Prepare professional assessments and case notes.
• Ensure compliance with agency and national standards.

Team Participation

• Participate in agency activities and special events.
• Assist with volunteer recruitment efforts.
• Assist with all fundraising activities and events, including the Big Book Nook.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

• Combination of office, schools, community, and home visit settings
• Flexible schedule to meet participant needs
• Occasional evening and weekend hours required
• Local travel required

Education & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree (preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Education, or a related field)

Preferred:

• Experience working with children, families, and adult volunteers
• Experience conducting interviews, assessments, case management, or intake services
• Understanding of child development and family dynamics

Requirements:

• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Proof of automobile insurance meeting Ohio minimum requirements
