Developmental Specialist
The Fairfield County Board of Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Developmental Specialist to join our Educational Services department. This role provides early intervention services to families with infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or medical conditions that place them at risk. Working under the general supervision of the Early Intervention Supervisor, the Developmental Specialist will coach and support parents and caregivers through activities that promote their child’s development in the natural environment, typically the family home or community setting. This is a hands-on, family-centered role that requires strong communication, documentation, and coaching skills.

The Developmental Specialist provides services in the child’s natural environment, such as the family home, and works closely with parents and caregivers to support their child’s development. Responsibilities include coaching families, maintaining accurate records, documenting progress, participating in assessments, and contributing to the development and review of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs). The role also involves attending team meetings, supporting transitions to preschool, and participating in ongoing training and professional development.

Qualified candidates must hold a bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in education, health, social or behavioral sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. Candidates must also meet the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) certification requirements for Developmental Specialists.

The starting hourly rate for this position is $23.93 and adjustments are based upon experience and qualifications. This position includes full county benefits.
