Duties

  • Oversees daily operations of the transit department. This includes managing schedules for operators and dispatchers, Handling any staff issues as they arise. Investigate any accidents or complaints and resolve to the satisfaction of the county and the customer. Assist in oversight of Drug/Alcohol programs, ADA, Title VI, DOT, and FTA requirements.
  • Retain a high performing staff. This includes interviewing and hiring operators, schedulers, and dispatchers. Plan and organize workloads, staff assignments, and training. Motivate staff and hold accountable to meet local transportation demands. Complete performance appraisals. Maintain and manage personnel record, pre-employment testing, employment training, etc. Perform monthly safety meetings
  • Manage the fleet of buses and vans. This includes making sure all scheduled maintenance is completed per ODOT specifications. Ensure buses are clean and running properly. Ensure all buses and vans are fueled as needed and all ODOT reports regarding vehicles are completed accurately and timely.
  • Oversee contracts and make sure all standards are met. Work with local organizations to provide transit solutions. 
    Complete all necessary reporting for grants.
  • Serve as backup to the director and attend various meetings and conferences. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree preferred. 
  • Two years management or supervisory experience within a business or government office. 
  • Experience in transit industry or logistics a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a normal office environment where there is no discomfort due to temperature, noise, dust and the like. Good driving record necessary to drive transit vehicles in case of emergencies. .
