Assistant Payroll Clerk

Job Title: Assistant Payroll Clerk (12 Month Position)
Salary: TBD – Based on Experience
Start Date: Approximately May 21, 2025
 
Essential Functions:

  • Assists in processing payroll for classified staff including absences, timesheets, and overtime
  • Posts payroll and benefits to the accounting system each payroll
  • Completes verification of employment forms not handled by the HR Department
  • Make daily bank deposits
  • Posts all non-grant related receipts
  • Follows up on all returned checks
  • Processes all refund checks
  • Works closely with BWC and third-party administrator in regards to all workers compensation claims
  • Completes unemployment claims
  • Attends trainings and meetings related to job tasks or as recommended by Treasurer
  • Assists in phone coverage when office manager is unavailable
  • Enters and retrieves data through the use of the computer system
  • Assists in inventory tracking
  • Performs other clerical and accounting tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor
 
Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or equivalency
  • Bookkeeping and/or accounting courses
  • Typing, filing, and accounting skills, data processing/math aptitude skills, discreet/tactful public
  • relations skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working in a similar secretarial position
