Assistant Payroll Clerk
Job Title: Assistant Payroll Clerk (12 Month Position)
Salary: TBD – Based on Experience
Start Date: Approximately May 21, 2025
Essential Functions:
- Assists in processing payroll for classified staff including absences, timesheets, and overtime
- Posts payroll and benefits to the accounting system each payroll
- Completes verification of employment forms not handled by the HR Department
- Make daily bank deposits
- Posts all non-grant related receipts
- Follows up on all returned checks
- Processes all refund checks
- Works closely with BWC and third-party administrator in regards to all workers compensation claims
- Completes unemployment claims
- Attends trainings and meetings related to job tasks or as recommended by Treasurer
- Assists in phone coverage when office manager is unavailable
- Enters and retrieves data through the use of the computer system
- Assists in inventory tracking
- Performs other clerical and accounting tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalency
- Bookkeeping and/or accounting courses
- Typing, filing, and accounting skills, data processing/math aptitude skills, discreet/tactful public
- relations skills
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- At least 3-5 years of experience working in a similar secretarial position
