2026 Chamber Awards - Brett Markwood First Responders Award

The Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the Brett Markwood First Responders Award from the Lancaster and Fairfield County community. The awards ceremony will be held during the Lancaster Fairfield County Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner scheduled for May 7th, 2026. Nominations will close Sunday, March 29 at 11:59 PM EST.

About the Brett Markwood Award:
First responders are the police officers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians that are an integral part of maintaining each community’s quality of life. This award is open to all law enforcement, fire, and EMT personnel in Lancaster and Fairfield County who show dedication to their community, a passion for their job, and a willingness to go above and beyond. The award is named in honor of Officer Brett Markwood, who was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 21, 1993.
Nomination Requirements
Nominees will be evaluated based on evidence of the following characteristics: Responsibility; Fairness; Trustworthiness; Respect; Care; Dedication to the Job; and any other job-related information that should be considered.
Nominations are not to exceed 600 words in length and must be submitted in a Word document (.doc or .docx format); Letters of recommendation are not required but may be used to support your nomination (Limit one letter per nomination).
